NTSx Open Online Courses

I am starting a new venture and NTS is on board. I took a course on Open Online Classes (add “massive” and you have MOOCs) this summer. That project coincided with a discussion at General Assembly on innovative education during the International Higher Education Commission gathering. The result was the creation of a new online project that NTS is gracious enough to support and the first effort begins today! http://ntsx.nts.edu/

For those of you who might be interested, NTS is offering a four week, open, online, continuing education course connected to our upcoming conference in preaching.

The course combines personal interaction with resources from the new online Preacher’s Magazine to explore Preaching Holiness in a Pluralistic World. The class is offered through our new website NTSx which is dedicated to open online education. This is our first experimental class, designed to mirror aspects of the conference (forums where we can discuss sermon elements inductively) without repeating its content. If you participate and complete the assignments (no tests!) NTS will award a certificate for 10 hours of lifelong learning (1 CEU)

It takes a couple of steps to get registered (basically you set your user name and then password through your email) and you are good to go!

About Dean G. Blevins

Dr. Dean G. Blevins currently serves as Professor of Practical Theology and Christian Discipleship at Nazarene Theological Seminary as well as Director of Nurturing Care with Children through Worship and Prayer. An ordained elder, Dean has ministered in diverse settings and served as the USA Regional Education Coordinator for the Church of the Nazarene. A prolific author, Dr. Blevins co-wrote Discovering Discipleship and authored The Disciples: A BIble Study. Dr. Blevins also served 25 years as editor of the online academic journal Didache: Faithful Teaching.
